Battle Royale Winning Trends

Battle Royale is a DFS Draft on Underdog Fantasy that pays out $40,000 to First Place.

You're Drafting against 5 others and filling out 6 roster spots (1QB, 1 RB, 2 WR, 1 TE, & 1 Flex.) to compete against over 48,000 other entries for the Grand Prize of $40,000. It's only a $7 Entry Fee, The Draft takes about 5 minutes to complete, and you can submit up to 150 entries.

These are the Battle Royale Midseason Trends after 9 weeks of the Contest on Underdog Fantasy:

Flex Trends

So far in 2024, we’ve seen a lot more high-end performances from the Running Backs vs Wide Receivers.

This could not be more evident than with Running Back dominating the Flex spot even more so than last year. In 2023 we saw an RB in the flex Two Thirds of the time.

So far in 2024, we’ve seen an RB in the Flex 88% of the time - 8 out of 9 weeks!

that’s a huge increase from 2023 if that number holds for the entire season. Unless there’s some great WR value that falls to you or a juicy game environment that you want to heavily stack like Cincinatti vs Baltimore in Week 5, I’m taking an RB in the Flex.

Week 5 Battle Royale Winner

First Pick Trends

In 2023, it was +EV to go WR with your First pick, but as I alluded to above, Running Back has been dominating in all Fantasy formats this year and the numbers aren’t as convincing for Wide Receivers. In 2023, two thirds of the time a winning Battle Royale Lineup drafted a Wide Receiver with the first pick.

Thru 9 Weeks of the 2024 Battle Royale Season, there's been two positions that are targeted with the first pick: 55% of the Winning Lineups targeted a Wide Receiver with the first Pick and 45% of the Winners targeted a Running Back.

It’s almost 50/50 whether to take an RB or WR with your First Pick but not a single roster drafted a TE or QB with the first pick so do go WR or RB when picking in the First Round.

Waiting on QB

There hasn’t been a single Battle Royale winner that has taken a QB in the first 2 picks and only one winning team drafted a QB in the 3rd round.

88% of the time, the Battle Royale winner waited until the 4th round or later to draft a QB. (Like the Week 7 winner below who take Jalen Hurts after Amon-Ra, AJ Brown, and Mixon.)

Week 7 Battle Royale Winner

Stacking Trends

8 out of 9 teams had Correlation in their lineups. 7 out of those 8 teams had the QB stacked with at least one of his pass catchers.

Only 33% of the Winning Lineups had a Secondary Stack. Weeks 4, 6, and 7. (Week 7 Pictured above)

Week 1 didn’t have a QB stacked with his Pass Catcher but did have Anthony Richardson in a game stack with Joe Mixon.

One Winning Lineup had no correlation whatsoever - the naked Lamar Jackson Lineup of Week 3! (Pictured below)

Week 3 Battle Royale Winner

Average Winning Score

Average winning score across 9 weeks has been 142.55 which averages out to 23.75 per roster spot. The High was 152 and the low was 125.
